We speak so much of light,
please let me speak on behalf
of the good dark. Let us
talk more of how dark
the beginning of a day is.

Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds all the centuries since the bible was written.  And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes.  I personally resent it bitterly.

It's ridiculous to talk about freedom in a society dominated by huge corporations.
What kind of freedom is there inside a corporation?
They're totalitarian institutions -
you take orders from above and maybe give them to people below you.
There's about as much freedom as under Stalinism.

Come on, come on
Holy Roman Empire
Come on if you think
You can take us on
You and your cronies

So give me one kiss to build a dream on
Gonna stay with me through the changing seasons
and yeah, yeah
And it's all we've got to bring

For time is like a fashionable host
That slightly shakes his parting guest by the hand
And with his arms outstretch'd, as he would fly,
Grasps in the comer: welcome ever smiles,
And farewell goes out sighing.

Yet over this glorious and wacky place
at Europe's heart a sorrow hangs like smoke.
A sixty-year-old evil leaves its trace
even on such dreams as innocents evoke.

We grow older, but we do not change.
We grow more sophisticated, but at bottom we continue to resemble our younger selves,
eager to listen to the next story, and the next, and the next

The Greeks believed your character determines your fate.
You can veer here and there, but ultimately something inside you,
the way you are,
Has already determined the kinds of choices you will make.

The flowers left thick at nightfall in the wood
This Eastertide call into mind the men,
Now far from home, who, with their sweethearts, should
Have gathered them and will never do again

If I ever get out of here
Thought of giving it all away to a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day If I ever get out of here

Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives.
I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends, and
I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that.
That's what's insane about it.

Now I am strong and lapped in sorrow
As in a coat of magic mail and borrow
For Time today and care not for tomorrow

Have you seen her?
So fine and pretty
Fooled me with her style and ease
And I feel her from across the room
Yes, it's love in the third degree

Last night I dreamed about you.
What happened in detail I can hardly remember,
all I know is that we kept merging into one another.
I was you, you were me.

We're nothing and nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay
But we could be safer, just for one day
