Daryl Denner's feature length movie Unspoken was accepted into the Manhattan Film Festival.
Since early March, the planet has dangled precariously over the precipice. Like many others living in New York City, I've tried to keep my head down, take precautions and respectfully do the right things. I hoped that this moment would pass quickly with minimal damage.
The momentum in my projects that had been building over the last few years was put on a jarring pause. The world dramatically changed, but the days felt like living in a bubble. With deference to the planet's much larger problems, many good things have happened to me during these unusual times. I'm happy and grateful to share some of those positives here.
First, in early March, the feature length I'm in, Unspoken by Daryl Denner and produced by the team at Fictional Films, was accepted in the Manhattan Film Festival.
The Manhattan Film Festival's about page states:
The Manhattan Film Festival was originally founded as the Independent Features Film Festival. Hosted at the then Tribeca Cinemas, it was the first film festival in which film selection was done online via a web-based competition. The festival continued to innovate and became the first to introduce a virtual platform. Shortly thereafter, the State of New York approved a name reservation to become the Manhattan Film Festival. The rest is history. Upon this transition, MFF became a traditional film festival, in which their programming team works very hard to annually program a diverse film lineup of established, emerging, and student filmmakers.
In 2019, MFF acquired the technology of the former internet startup ScreenBooker. By acquiring this technology, the Manhattan Film Festival offers all filmmakers a digital film studio that can be accessed year-round. This technology allows filmmakers to raise revenue, post jobs, hire talent, license music for use in film, book theaters, and track box office totals.
The website can be seen here:
Earlier posts about the making of the movie can be found here:
Originally, the film festival was supposed to occur in June of 2020. However, due to current events, the festival has been pushed to next year, June 17th-27th of 2021. The festival is going to combine both selections of 2020 and 2021.
I had a great time working the cast and crew on this low budget feature and I'm glad to see their hard work recognized.
Since March, this movie and a few others I have acted in have been accepted into other festivals, but I'll give those festivals the attention they deserve in other posts.
I hope everyone is safe and well.
